Book Synopsis WHO WERE THE FIRST EXPATS? by : John Halsted

Download or read book WHO WERE THE FIRST EXPATS? written by John Halsted and published by Abela Publishing Ltd. This book was released on 2010-07-06 with total page 54 pages. Available in PDF, EPUB and Kindle. Book excerpt: When writing my inaugural novel, "Legend of the last Vikings - Taklamakan" set in the late 1060's and early 1070's AD, I came across article after article of forced and voluntary migrations of groups of people, indeed nations which were moved from one location on our planet to another - and this is not a recent phenomenon. After completing and publishing my book, to acclaim, this subject still held my interest, so in 2010 I compiled a short synopsis of these movements always asking the question - who were the first expats? It is only 54 pages and not worthy of an ISBN so I published it on Smashwords as FREE ebook. I was surprised to see some favourable comments posted to the booklet. Now 6 years on, I have decided it was time to refresh the doc, which I have done for two reasons. 1. The Brexit campaign, or lack of it and 2. the election of Donald Trump into the Whitehouse. Both of these events had immigration, or should I say the fear of immigration, as core elements. What this booklet does is show how immigration and migration has been happening for centuries, eons and even millennia. Yes the wholesale influx of people has caused some disruption but equilibrium has always returned and the cycle of life has gone on. So, download, read and enjoy this short study of migration and immigration across the world.
