Paper -1 or the Primary Level is made mandatory for anyone who intends to have a teaching career in the state for the classes 1 to 5. On the other hand, to teach classes 6 to 8 one must qualify for Paper-2 or Middle Level or Elementary Level. A person who intends to be a teacher for both levels (classes I to V and classes VI to VIII) will have to appear in both papers (Paper I and Paper II).
