According to the author, much of the meaning of crucial Christian terminology derives from Greek Platonic, Pythagorean, Orphic and Neo-Platonic philosophies, and behind these the more ancient wisdom-knowledge of the Egyptians, who bore the bright torch of religious light from remote times.
