The cork made an excellent medium for the penetration of the points, as the darts could be easily removed, and owing to its pliability, the deterioration of the backing was reduced to a minimum. The expenses of this research were in part defrayed by the committee to study the tobacco problem, but the responsibility for the planning and execution of the work, and for the conclusions, rests solely with the author and Professor Dunlap.
