The Indians residing west of the Mississippi, as we learn from a member of our club, who is entirely familiar with their habits, use bows made of the yellow or bow wood, Ma elura aurantiaca, of Nuttall. This wood grows only on the Red river and the southern tribu taries of the Arkansas; whence it is carried to all the nations residing on the tributaries of the Mississippi.
