These budgets were developed by the Farm Production Economics Division of the Economic Research Service specifically for use in its Aggregate Production Analysis System Similar assumptions and methodology were us ed in estimating the data in all six regions. Consequently, the budgets provide compara ble estimates of crop yields and variable production costs both within and among the major crop-producing areas of the United States.
