Available in PDF, EPUB and Kindle. Book excerpt: This book has a double purpose. It is first an official report from the Miami Beach Police Department to the Law Enforcement Assistance Administration, U.S. Department of Justice, describing how funds granted to that police department for the national political conventions of 1972 were used. This book is also a manual of instruction. Miami Beach Chief of Police Rocky Pomerance recognized that the full significance of the complex experience of policing the conventions might not be adequately communicated to other members of his profession. U.S. Justice Department's Community Relations Service advocated that the activities and procedures adhered to by Miami Beach Police during the conventions be documented to serve as a guideline to other law enforcement agencies.
