Book excerpt: The consultative meeting considered proposals for the promotion and implementation of a strategy to improve information on the status and trends of capture fisheries. The meeting found that this issue should have a high priority with regard to implementation of the Code of Conduct for Responsible Fisheries. The consultation approved a draft strategy to be presented to the 25th session of the Committee on Fisheries (COFI). It is hoped that this strategy can be used as a foundation for various policy instruments, and that it establishes an ongoing commitment at national, regional and global levels.
