Already the value of the products of agriculture on the Pacific coast, if not in Colorado, in the heart of the mountain system, is greater than that of the products of mining. The Division of Statistics, under my direction, is investigating these resources and measuring their development, with all the facilities at its command. The results will surprise the Eastern States with new views of the wealth and progress of the Great American Desert of the recent past.
