Download or read book Evaluation of the Blind Hole Drilling Method for the Measurement of Residual Stress written by C. S. Dentry and published by . This book was released on 1984 with total page 16 pages. Available in PDF, EPUB and Kindle. Book excerpt: The blind hole drilling method has been employed to measure uniform residual stress fields; and an evaluation made of one approach to using this method when the stress field varies with depth. In particular stress fields generated by the application of uniaxial loads, by shot-peening and by heat treatment have been evaluated. The technique has been applied to the measurement of the residual stress field in the tyre bead seat region of a Boeing 727 main undercarriage wheel. This region has been found to have a significant level of residual stress perhaps indicative of the action of surface rolling.
