This book was released on 2004 with total page pages. Available in PDF, EPUB and Kindle. Book excerpt: ABSTRACT: Truncation of gamma-MSH identified a shorter analogue with equipotent agonist activity at the mMC1R and mMC3-5R. We identified a nonpeptide ligand with nanamolar agonist activity at the mMC4R that was selective over the mMC4 and mMC5 receptors. Finally, a novel mMC1R thiourea selective agonist was identified when Ac-His-DPhe-Arg-Trp-NH2 was modified at the Arg position. The details of these studies are covered in this dissertation.
