Book excerpt: "The objective of this paper is to analyze the readiness capabilities of Latin America as a region and its ability to confront cyber threats according to the Global Cybersecurity Index & Cyberwellness Profiles April 2015 report jointly published by the International Telecommunication Union (ITU) and ABI research. Within this report there are five areas of analysis: the legal framework, the available technology, organizational structure, design capabilities and cooperation. Based on the analysis of these five elements, six countries in Latin America and the Caribbean have been selected in order to identify the strengths and weaknesses of the region. After briefly examining Brazil, Colombia, the Dominican Republic, Guatemala, and Jamaica, we will have a better understanding of the current cyber security climate in Latin America"--Page 3.
