Book excerpt: Excerpt from Annual Report of the Homoeopathic Hospital, University of Michigan: For the Year Ending Decmber 31, 1911 This annual report Of the work done in the Homoe pathic Hospital Of the University Of Michigan is pre sented by the medical staff to Show the continued popu larity Of'the institution as evidence-d in its records Of patients treated in the various fields Of medicine and surgery. In the report Of 1910, it was shown that the capacity of the hospital was taxed to its utmost and that without additional facilities itshearning-s could not be increased. The amount turned into the University treasury in 1911, was a trifle under that turned in in the year 1910. This is accounted for by conditions over which the staff had no control. During the month Of April several cases Of smallpox occurred which necessitated the quarantining Of the institution for a period Of six weeks, during which time no patients were admitted to the in or out de partments, and thus the earning capacity Of the hospital for 1911 was limited-to less than eleven months. It is gratifying, however, to be able to state that the epidemic was easily controlled and did not cricnd to the inmates Of the institution. In spite Of'lthe soare, and the conse quent depletion Of the hospital during these weeks; we regard the financial showing for the year an exceptional one.
