Book excerpt: The United States and the People's Republic of China are currently the two leading economic powers in the world. As a result, there is a lot of competition between the two countries and that competition has created a trade war between the US and China today. It is an economic conflict between America and China. As a result of this trade war, not only the economies of both countries but also international trade are adversely affected. It affects all countries in the world and has a major impact on developing countries in the world. This paper provides an in-depth analysis of both the US-China trade war and its impact on the developing world, both positive and negative. The impact of this trade war on developing Third World countries is discussed with examples from Asia, Africa, and Latin America. Further, some commentators argue that the Thucydides trap and the Hobbesian trap are appropriate for interpreting the US-China trade war, a new form of modern world politics. Accordingly, the validity of these two concepts is discussed in depth throughout this paper. Here the idea of Thucydides trap is critically examined, focusing on the dynamics of relations between the two countries. Further, the paper concludes with a critical discussion under the Hobbesian trap, linking the conflict between India and China, the conflict between India and Pakistan, to the trade war. This study mainly uses the literature research methodology and descriptive analysis.
