Book excerpt: The U.S. Department of Interior Minerals Management Service (MMS) and the Florida Geological Survey (FGS) have entered into a multi-year cooperative agreement with the aim of identifying and characterizing offshore sands suitable for beach restoration along the central east coast of Florida. This report documents the results of the Year 1 interim phase of this study, which partially characterized offshore Brevard County. The report consists of an introduction, summary and appendices which include granulometric (sand grain size distribution), mineralogical water quality and bottom characterization data. A map showing the locations of all transects is included.
