The fault has not been theirs, nor that of the Society's printers. The large number of the engravings naturally required a considerable time for their production, and it was deemed important, in order to uniformity, that they should, so far as possible, be executed by the same hand - that of the best arms' engraver in England, who, unfortunately, has been prevented, by frequent and protracted illness, from completing the work within the period contemplated. It is believed that the delicate beauty and distinctness of the engravings will, in a great measure, compensate for the delay which has been unavoidable. The second volume is in progress, and the Members of the Society may confidently rely upon receiving it as the volume for the year 1882.
