The essay incorporates, among other things, some important developments in quantum physics that have a bearing on the thesis proposed in that book, namely that the aspect of quantum known as entanglement could account for the children apparently born with memories of another life. Brener, who has won critical acclaim for, among other things, his ability to explain complex science in laymens language, makes clear that neither his book nor this essay claim to be proof of his thesis. It is, rather, an explanation of entanglement as a possible mechanism for this phenomenon, the present state of knowledge considered.
