Laura L. Lovett earned her M.A. in English and American literature from the University of California, San Diego, and a Ph.D. in history from the University of California, Berkeley. She is an associate professor of history at the University of Massachusetts, Amherst, where she teaches courses on women's history, the history of sexuality and gender, and the history of youth.
