Cases which did not result in a decree are not included. Like the county court and supreme court judgment records, earlier chancery decrees are scattered among several record books that also include entries from the other courts (see Series LACC-002 and SUPR-LA 002). Beginning in 1870, chancery decrees were entered in separate chancery volumes, arranged chronologically by court term. Entries do not include docket numbers. The post-1870 chancery record books are indexed by plaintiff. A General Index of chancery records contains entries arranged by plaintiff for cases from 1837 to 1966 which ended with decrees. It includes record book volume and page number information, case beginning and ending dates, and docket numbers.
