Book excerpt: Tennis is a game that evolves. One day, in the not-too-distant future, someone or a group of individuals will introduce a style of play that is so unique that it revolutionizes the game. This new thing will take a while for the rest of the field to adapt and/or to defend against. Those who grasp it will narrow the playing field and find themselves competing among themselves for the top spots. It will be obvious to all, but for some unknown reason, these players will not play like the others. They will possess something extra that separates them from their opponents, making them harder to beat. No matter what this new thing maybe, a closer examination will still and always revert to an improvement in accomplishing the core standards of the game, which are clearing the net and make the ball land deep on the other side of the court using a heavy spin on the ball to cause the ball to land within the court boundaries. One-Shot Tennis (OST) is a new, revolutionary concept of tennis development that combines cognitive learning, motor skill development, and muscle memory within premeditated patterns of progression that are designed to assist coaches and players in the simultaneous development of the physical, mental, and emotional levels needed to play the game. One-Shot Tennis-Set Point is created to lay the foundation to holistically developing the individual by increasing their solid play and assisting in the coaching development process of every aspect of the game simultaneously through a systematic nonlinear approach. OST's nonlinear coaching system works to developmental, physical, muscle memory, emotional, and other aspects of development simultaneously.
