Available in PDF, EPUB and Kindle. Book excerpt: Models are presented for the static and dynamic properties of ferrite and slowly switching tape-wound cores. Two computer programs, named STAT and DYNA, have been developed for evaluating the model parameters by curve fitting with measured data. Transient macroscopic eddy currents in tape-wound cores, in response to step MMF drives of amplitude FD, are analyzed. Their effect on the measurement of dynamic core parameters is accounted for. A switching tape-wound core is treated as a switching core with "ferrite-core" characteristics that is loaded by resistance Re through which flows current i-e. A computer program, named EDDY, has been developed to compute i-e (Phi, F-D) and R (Phi, F-D). Models are proposed for the domain patterns and for R-e (Phi, F-D). A measurement procedure and a computer program, named EDDYPA, are provided for evaluating the dynamic and R-e (Phi, F-D) parameters of tape-wound cores.
