Book excerpt: While promising technological advances are under way to develop new health products for the fight against several poverty-related diseases, considerable gaps exist in most disease areas. During the 2023 WHO-PDP forum, PDPs, their funders and WHO deliberated on how to best close the gap for missing health technologies as well as how to build sustainable R&D systems in low- and middle income countries. Furthermore, WHO presented new initiatives and processes related to the work of PDPs and gathered feedback on the potential future role of WHO’s Science Division in the PDPs space.
