He arrived in Virginia late 1684. He was married (2) 1693 to Anne Burton (1675-1725), the daughter of Thomas Burton, Sr. and Susannah Hatcher, in St. John's Church, Henrico Co., Va. They had seven children. Included are the descendants of Hagar Stovall, who is probably the daughter of Bartholomew Stovall from his first marriage. Descendants live in Virginia, Tennessee, Missouri, Kentucky, North Carolina, South Carolina, Mississippi, Alabama, Georgia, Illinois and elsewhere.
